Play and Learn, a magazine published in Freiburg has postulated that children who do not consume meat need to ingest iron in other ways because the trace element is very important for their growth.
It is a bit tough for the body to absorb iron which has to be extracted from veggies and fruits. Hence, it becomes mandatory on the part of the young vegetarians to inculcate meals which are rich in iron content.
Foods loaded with vitamin C augments iron absorption, which means that side dishes with peppers, cauliflower or broccoli, and desserts with orange juice or fruit, are essential.
Every child’s growth also depends on energy-rich foods like potatoes. Children with vegetarian diets should eat foods such as yoghurt and cheese as well to make sure they get enough calcium.
