Apgar Score is the first and foremost test which your baby has to undergo straight after delivery.
Aim of the test is to assess the physical condition of the newborn so as to deliver immediate care if required.
It would be given twice to your young ones, once at 1 minute after birth, and second at 5 minutes after birth.
In case, the baby’s got some serious problem then the first two scores are low and the test may be scored for a third time at 10 minutes after birth.
The factors on which the test is scored are:
• heart beat
• breathing movements
• activity and muscle tone
• grimace response or reflexes
• skin coloration
