I think mothers need to keep a tab on what the kids are watching on TV...it’s not a new observation. But do take care if they are watching more of TV ads, because a study has suggested that most of the TV advertising is influencing what your kids are eating as most of them promote JUNK FOOD.

Most of the foods and drinks that are advertised on TV are junk foods that are unhealthy...but the colorful and enticing presentation make kids get attracted to it. Experts have found that companies are ever more targeting children through the Internet, product placement and other activities.

These kinds of eating habits are leading to childhood obesity, which is one big problem with most of the kids in US.

About 9 million U.S. children and teen-agers, or about 16 percent, are obese compared with 5 percent in the 1960s. The number of young people with type 2 diabetes, which is linked to obesity, also is on the rise.

Though the government has advised the food industry to advertise products that are healthier, but the industry is making a clear escape putting that it is the consumers ho have to make the choice of what they have to eat.

So make sure you guide your child about the good and bad of the product he next time asks for after watching it on TV. Instead treat him with a healthier delicacy...so that he’s satisfied and knows what’s good for him.
