‘Spare the rod and spoil the child’...we had been hearing this cry since ages. But it sees the time has come when this rod will actually vanish away from the child rearing scene.
And it’s good to hear that California will be the pioneer state to do that after banning spanking for kids less than 4.

Though there are many arguments making rounds in the Government circle about the law being workable and right, for many find it hard to differentiate between a friendly pat from a parent and spanking. In this regard I would say, even a kid understands when his mother is giving him just a pat and when it has turned into spanking so there’s no point to argue on that.

But as far as child psychology is concerned, corporal punishment is nothing more than preparing for a society which is addictive to violence, says Sally Lieber, a Mountain View Democrat.

All in all, it is a great start. We hope many other states will soon follow suit and explicitly ban spanking the kids.
