A Dundee taxi driver never knew that sometime in his life he will switch over to a never thought of profession that too in just fraction of a second. Dougie Martin had to get into the shoes of a mid wife when suddenly he realized that the passenger Amy Penman, who he was taking to the maternity ward was no more in a condition to hold on and the baby was coming then and there.
Mr Martin said: “She was in the car about a minute and she said ‘I’m sorry I’m not going to make the maternity unit, this baby’s coming now’.”
He talked to an ambulance service operator, but before the ambulance could arrive, a 8lbs healthy baby had come into the world in just 10 minutes.
