A recent research conduted by the Researchers from Pennsylvania State University shows that alpha amylase an enzyme secreted by the salivary glands depends upon sympathetic nervous system’s (SNS). In other words a child’s drool is affected by the psychological stress he undergoes in a particular situation or in a relationship.

As per Douglas A. Granger, associate professor of biobehavioral health and human development and family studies at Penn State: Being able to monitor alpha amylase via a salivary test may open new opportunities to characterize individual differences in response to stress that we weren’t able to see before. We think that these differences could prove to be meaningful in understanding behavior.

Therefore, drooling is a clear cut symptom, which should warn the parents that their child is going through some stress and they should immediately look for a quite time with their children to take control of any situation their child is going through.
