What makes you happy? Happiness that comes from within...which give you immense pleasure and of course is most precious? Does it spring from your belief in some powerful force that guides us from above? Well, this is what the survey suggests.
Recent study by The Associated Press and MTV has postulated that American teens and young adults- comprises of 13 to 24 years of age- who categorize themselves as religious are inclined to be happier than the others and that almost 7 out of 10 falls under this section.
For 44%, spirituality holds a very important place while 21% asserts it to be ’somewhat important’ and there are 14% for whom, it doesn’t play any role.
Survey surfaced three most important things, first, among the populace, African-Americans happen to be the most religious; second, females are more inclined towards spirituality; and third, South is the most religious region.
Happiness is the most important aspect of life for 80% of the people who call themselves spiritual. They feel that God is with them and hence, would take them out from all kinds of adversities as Molly Luksik, a 21-year-old ballet dancer in Chicago says, if you believe God is helping you, then everything else isn’t as important and you can trust that there’s somebody there for you no matter what.
Believing in God or some powerful force that guides each one of us makes us an optimistic person, we develop a temperament that always looks at the brighter aspect of life and we tend to feel that ‘whatever happens, happens for good’ thus, saving the individual from falling into the pits of depression.

I believe this to be true - without my spiritual beliefs, i don’t know how I would have made it through the teen years!
I feel some part of spirituality means believing in oneself, which actually give inner strength to come out during the bouts of depression.
