The major cause of sickness among the infants in the United States of America is Rotavirus infections or ’stomach flu’. Round about, 55,000 cases of diarrhea and dehydration among five year olds has been reported.

Thus, the American Academy of Pediatrics has suggested introducing rotavirus vaccine in routine immunizations, which’ll amount to three doses by mouth at around 2, 4 and 6 months of age.

The infection is transmittable. Even the kids can pass it on through their mouths if they happen to put their fingers in mouth after touching some infected object. In addition, parents, health care and childcare workers can spread the virus too if they don’t rinse their hands properly after changing diapers.

Some of the symptoms of rotavirus are:

1. the child may feel excessively thirsty all the times
2. he may feel irritated most of the times
3. experiences restiveness
4. develops sunken eyes
5. a parched mouth and tongue
6. dry skin
7. excessive urination or in case of infants, a dry diaper for several hours

Thus, if you experience of either the conditions or dehydration, you must call for your doctor immediately.
