When a woman crosses the threshold to enter into the realm of motherhood, her joys seems no end, unconditionally, she pours herself in nurturing her li’le bundle of joy. But would you believe when I say, that her daily regime involves 38 bottles of milk, 18 changes of clothes, two loads of laundry and 50 nappies. Startled? I know but ’tis true, I’m referring to 32 year old Jenny, who delivered three girls and three boys, two months ago.

It wasn’t an easy delivery as the doctors would call it, she even developed cardiac problem but fortunately she recovered and presently all of them are pumping air in their lungs.

Initially, Jenny was quite apprehensive about their (the babies) survival, when we first found out I was carrying six I thought I might lose them all because I just couldn’t fathom how in the world I could carry them, says she.

Her uneasiness appeared not for the sake of carrying six babies rather it was the outcome of two miscarriages that she had already suffered. The couple was reluctant to go in for in-vitro fertilization because of the cost, so they opted for a fertility drug - Follistim - which the woman injects herself via a cartridge-pen-style device to stimulate egg production.

In order to meet the desired result, women had to go through the procedure five to six times but Jenny, tried it only once. When she conceived and scanned herself, she discovered six babies, pulsating in her womb. Although they had the option of ’selective reduction’ but it was difficult for her to choose which three of the little heartbeats to remove and hence, she decided to take a chance...risk I must say. She left her job, was administered to bed rest straight after 12 weeks and after a period of 7 weeks, she was admitted to a hospital where she was put under observation. After 30 weeks, she underwent caesarean with four doctors delivering the babies in five minutes.

Now, isn’t that amazing? Jenny went through two miscarriages but then finally ends up with six tiny tots, so is the couple looking forward on having any more children?
