Teenage Cancer-though rare, but is found to be the second largest cause of death among teenagers following accidents.
A research conducted by University of Manchester suggests that puberty and infections can be a major cause behind the eruption of tumors and cancers in vulnerable individuals. Pre- cancerous genetic changes occurring in the bone tissue in childhood and during puberty turn these cells cancerous.
Apart from this an exposure to chemicals in the womb and childhood is seen as another potential cause for teenage cancer by researchers.
Studies are being made to find if tobacco and smoking can also add on to the probability of getting cancer at this age.
