Planning to hire a private tutor for your child? Remember you are doing it at your own risk. Parents have been warned about possible risks in hiring unregulated private tutors to assist their children. The reason is that the self-employed teachers do not have to go through police checks before starting work, or be licensed, according to The Scottish School Board Association. So, you never know if the person teaching your child has got his intentions in place or he’s up to something else.
Caroline Vass, of the Scottish School Board Association, said:”The idea would be to take a common sense approach as they would do with any adult working on a one-to-one basis with their child.”
Eleanor Coner, from the Scottish Parent Teacher Council, said “The main risks come from familiar people, from family and friends, that’s a fact.
Even I think that most of the times kids are at risk from their near ones and acquaintances...but at the same time you cannot ignore the fact that private tutors are a danger as well. And one needs to be really cautious while choosing one for your child...’coz you never know the person teaching your kid was once convicted for possessing child porn and is now working as a private teacher.
