Do not get hassled if one fine day your kid’s school sends you his health report telling that he is obese, together with his Academic report. Yes, this is a possibility according to a report entitled “Tackling Child Obesity - First Steps”.
According the report, schools inability to give a comprehensive picture of a kid’s academic and physical development can keep the parents unaware of the possible serious health risks arising out of the piling lab.
This development is not a new one. Rulings like these have been observed in the past as well but the fact that a child can be bullied for his weight had stopped the authorities from taking a concrete step in this direction.
No doubts, that obesity is an epidemic, especially among the kids. But at the same time I think sending a report is nit the ideal solution to track it. Instead schools should train the parents to adhere to a lifestyle which is best suited to their kids. What kind of food should they give, exercise that they should do and how to keep them active. I think a kind of counseling will prove rather beneficial than an embarrassing report card.
