sleeping-baby-inside_50Since the winters are underway, so most of you must be keeping your tiny tot all wrapped up, protecting it from flu and other infections, however, in this wrapping process, you might increase the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).

SIDS
is the principal cause of death in infants under one year of age.

Due to excessive wrapping, the tots may experience thermal stress which actually leads to SIDS.

To reduce the risk of SIDS, new parents must keep a few things in their mind:

1. You must place your baby in crib with face up.

2. Put babies’ feet closer to the foot of the bed, this keeps babies from rolling down.

3. Folding of the blanket must be done at the feet, never cover them fully.

4. Avoid falling asleep with baby on the couch, since you could roll over on or drop the baby.

5. Never share your bed with the baby or allow other siblings to do so.

6. Don’t rely on baby apnea monitors. These monitors can detect heart rhythm disturbances or lapses in breathing, but cannot notice drops in oxygen levels and other subtle changes leading up to SIDS.

7. Always remember premature babies are at higher risk for SIDS.

Although, you want to keep your baby away from the chillness of the months but remember these few things and you would definitely benefit from these.
