They say it in a translated version that the pink ones are for the girls and the blue for the boys, other than that you really would have to guess what these are. Probably, when your tot gets his first lesson on the mermaids, you can fool him around by saying that those mythical creatures really existed by gifting him this aquatic toy and letting him have a similar feel unless he grows up enough to realise that all that was a myth. Good attempt to close in on the myths anyways!
