Scholars in South Korea are of the view that obesity in children is directly proportional to some kind of ear infection. But scientists in the US are quite apprehensive about the study.

If any such type of link existed, doctors would have been in a position to describe how extra fad is bad for kids just as it is for adults.

In majority of the cases, children suffer from ear infection and doctors have postulated that it is because of the middle ear, which often cannot fully drain fluid as it is developing.

Although the kids are given proper medications for the infection but they too have developed immunity to them.

A study was done, in where, children, were grouped into two categories aged 2 to 7 — 155 who had tubes implanted in their ears to help them drain fluid and recover from ear infections, and 118 who were in the hospital for other reasons.

The children who were treated for ear infections were fatter than the other children, based on their body mass index (BMI), a ratio of weight to height.

According to the study, the children with ear infections had an average BMI of 22, compared to 16 for the other group.
This implied that extra fat boosts the risk of ear infections.

However, the findings did not satisfied American specialists asserting that the research lacks a physiological explanation for the conclusion. They even said that a connection between obesity and ear infections is not biologically plausible.
