Your baby has entered into the seventh month and you are thinking about starting up with a little solid food now. Yes, you are correct o for ‘little’ at first. The American Academy of Pediatrics, suggests that mothers must take the advice of their doctor before introducing solids.
Once, you get a green signal, there’s a whole new world of baby recipes for you and an even bigger world of tastes for your baby. Here are a few tips and recipes for the first timers:
• Make rice cereal (available in the baby-food section at your grocery store) on the wet side at first, using warm breast milk, formula, unsweetened juice or water.
• Don’t try to introduce solids when your baby is either very hungry or very full. Begin the meal with a regular feeding and stop when her hunger is satiated a bit. Then offer the cereal.
• Use a small, shallow baby spoon.
• Hold your baby in your lap or put her in a highchair when feeding her solid foods.
• Only introduce one new food at a time so that if your baby has a reaction, you can pinpoint what food caused it.
Don’t try to stuff your baby, only due to your gut feeling that the baby might be hungry. Just stop when the baby shows disinterest. He must have had his fill. Follow the yips and keep exploring newer recipes to keep your baby’s interest on and on and on!
