Prof. MP Ranjan, the head of the Centre for Bamboo Initiatives at the National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, has added an altogether new dimension to toys.
If on one hand you can give your child the super smart and super expensive rocking toys, on the other
Ranjan offers this very basic rocking horse made out of bamboo. This rocking horse is a part of TheStrictus collection, which comprises of many super-simple toys and kids’ furniture.

Designed with G. Upadhyay, he calls the rocking horse a ‘poverty buster’ as it enables the craftsmen to make it a self-owned business rather than working as a labourer for someone else.

Back to basics and ’green’ sustainable and friendly to this wonderful planet. Wooden toys are great to, and the idea of poverty buster when so many struggle yet wish to see their children enjoy ’play’ and toys in a world so swamped with plastic expensive non-lasting junk that many parents are unable to afford.
