I don’t think there would be any kid who’s not influenced by Harry Potter in one or the other way. Influence would be a small word I guess, I think obsessed would be correct.
Now it is studied that he Harry Potter is protecting children that were pone to accidents...don’t tell me, was my first reaction after reading this.
But yes it’s true, and Researchers at John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, have concluded this after reviewing the two weekends in June 203 and July 2005, when “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” and “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” were published. The number of kids brought to the hospital’s emergency department dropped down to nearly half as the kids were in their beds reading the books...so no playing...no cycling ...so no injuries and accidents. This phenomenon is coined as ‘distraction therapy’.
There are plans of bringing out some more interesting books that could make kids sit at home and avoid accident. I don’t think this is a good idea...rather this could add on to the already existing health problems in kids like childhood obesity, lack of exercise...as these result from the couch potato lifestyle, which would be promoted if more interesting books come into the market, especially with an aim to make kids sit at home.
