Forget the flash cards! The best way to nurture a newborn’s growing brain is with plenty of fun and games along with tender loving care.
Here are a few tips:
1. Chat with your toddler, the more you’ll converse with him, the richer vocabulary he’ll develop. Do not go in for complex subjects, as he cannot think in abstract terms. And in case he tries to communicate with you, elaborate on it.
2. Reading stories together is instrumental in building an emotional bond with child and helps in learning too. Have patience in re-reading the book for the child again, it’ll give delight for the kid when he can predict what’s on the next page.
3. Use sign language to communicate with your baby before he ever speaks. In this way, you’ll lend his intelligence a helping hand.
4. Studies have proved that breastfed kids outperform their formula fed peers on mental-development tests. But don’t worry, even if you are using formula, the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends an iron-fortified one for your baby’s first year. It’s not only healthy but also helps in boosting conditioning processes.
5. Kids do need entertainment round the clock this doesn’t mean that your presence is required every where. They need some time by their own self with their toys, you may supervise your kid but do not interfere.
6. Cuddle your baby every now and then make plenty of eye contact. Once your baby knows that you’ll always meet his needs in a loving and reliable way, he’ll have the drive to explore on his own.
These little things will not only encourage in developing your kido’s brain but would also be instrumental in bonding the familial ties.
