After nourishing your tiny tot for nine months does not end your responsibilities there instead, you have to continue doing the job that requires your attention towards your health, which is often overlooked by most of the moms.
However, there are no complicated ‘diet rules’ that you have to follow neither there are foods that you have to eat or avoid.
Preferably, mothers of nursing babies must eat a balanced, varied diet including fresh fruits and vegetables. It is important to eat foods from all the food groups, as well as continuing to take your prenatal vitamins. You must remember while breast-feeding your calorie intake should not fall below 1800 calories per day.
Besides calories, you must also keep an account of calcium, protein and vitamin C.
Normally, it’s suggested that everyday you eat at least three servings of calcium-rich milk, yogurt, and cheese; seven to eight ounces of protein-rich foods such as meat, fish, or poultry; six to eleven servings of grains, cereals, rice and pasta; two to four servings of fruit; and three to five servings of veggies.
