If you are planning to introduce your baby to cereal grains only after he’s six months old, then you need to think over, for a study suggests that a delay can cause serious cereal allergies in babies.
According to Dr. Jill Poole, study co-author the ideal time to initiate a diet containing cereal grains is anywhere between the fourth and the 6th month. The study revealed that the babies who were given cereals after 4th month were 3.8 times less likely to fall a prey to wheat allergy, which is one of the top five allergies that are common among US kids.
“The body’s immune system needs to see the food protein earlier to know it’s not something harmful, and it shouldn’t react to it,” Poole said.
