According to Charles Pohl, M.D., director of the Network of Apnea, children are sound sleepers but if they experience insomnia, assume it an indication of some underlying problem.
Following are a few tips that you may do to help your child in getting enough sleep at night.
1. Before going to bed sit with your children and discuss their experiences of the day. At times, children may feel vexed because of school. Having a light conversation will definitely make them feel relaxed.
2. Stick to a regular timetable. Ask your kids to go to bed at regular hours even on weekends otherwise the next day’s schedule gets upset.
3. Do not change your kid’s sleeping patterns. Make them sleep in their own beds in a quiet room.
4. Avoid giving them caffeine after the late afternoons. This includes Chocolate and colas, some antidepressants too can cause sleeplessness.
5. When the kids are going to bed, avoid giving them anything to eat not even some light snacks.
6. However, if insomnia persists, it’s advisable to consult a doctor.
