Remember those days of your childhood when you wanted to be like your Superheroes-Spiderman, Superman, Batman....and the best way to relive your childhood fantasies is through your children. Children look cute when you dress them up as Super heroes. Superhero costumes are easily available these days and you can even get all the ammunition toys that the super heroes use. The indulgent parent in you gives in to the temptation to buy these costumes if your kids insist especially when there are fancy dress contests or theme parties coming up.
Wait......Did you know that these costumes could land your kid in the hospitals?
Believe it; it seems that once the kids wear these costumes, they get all the more inspiration from their heroes. Now that they look like their heroes, they want to emulate their behavior and try to enact their stunts and in the process get injured which could be quite dangerous. The injuries could be anything from a broken limb, to a heady injury.
Parents need to be aware that children may believe that their abilities have been given a superboost with an appropriate costume
says child specialist Dr Patrick Davies, from Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham.
Does that mean that kids should not be dressed up in these costumes? By all means, do so but also take care to see that you are there to admonish them when they try these stunts. Children have this great knack of getting injured even when they are standing or walking and you won’t stop them then, why know? Kids must have their share of fun too!
