If you think that domestic violence only has momentary effects on a child’s mind, then you are wrong. According to research conducted by UN, any kind of abuse has a prolonged effect on a child’s mind, which can be experienced in form of disorders such as bed-wetting and nightmares swelling upto memory disorders and even suicides.
Not just physically, the nightmarish atmosphere at home can affect the child psychologically, in turn marring his memory and learning ability. Such kids, are often spotted living in solitude...in their own shell and do not open up very often. In extreme cases, grave consequences like drug and alcohol addiction and even suicide attempts can be observed among the kids who have been through the traumatic experience of abuse.
In the light of the above-mentioned affects of this dark and dingy facet of our society, the UN Report lays down the fact that no act of violence against children will be justified and state should come up to safeguard children’s rights to protection and access to services.
