Sometimes I feel that I am living in a sick world. A world that is full of sickheads who can do almost anything to gain fame. And the tasteless reality TV show, “Let’s Make a Baby” made this pre-conceived notion of mine all the more strong.
This was a ‘tasteless and morally dubious” fake television show started off by BBC show ‘Mischief. The show was supposed to call men and women all strangers, and make them live together in a “fertility house”. Each week the least attractive house members would be voted off, leaving the two most attractive couples. And then will begin the real challenge...this couple would then race to conceive a child live...yes, right on your TV screen.
This daring act will fetch them a grand prize of 100,000 pounds.
But started of just as a fake show, ‘Let’s make a baby’ very soon got dangerously close to becoming a real show, with contestants and sponsors flowing in like hell.
Everyone who wanted to get his bit of name and fame lined up to be a part of it. While channels queued to get the rights for the series.
What did all this depict?...I think it’s a clear portrayal of the extent to which the channel owners and producers of such reality shows, can stoop just to make money. Another thing that became prominent with this was the appetite of being famous that the society has...the die-hard craving for fame is something that comes to centre-stage when you find a ‘Gay’ man all set to make a woman pregnant.
