Preterm birth has been regarded as Nation’s leading killer of newborns. About 12 percent of babies in the United States are born preterm. According to normal gestation which is approximately 40 weeks, a birth before 37 weeks is considered premature. An 18% increase in the number of preterm babies since 2003, means that more babies have to struggle with their lives and more families have a lifetime of health consequences to deal with.



The baby has to live a life that’s no ways better than death. Apart from being physically week throughout his life it’s possible that baby might have structural brain abnormalities, long-term disabilities and even death. The basic reason why women deliver preterm babies despite all kinds of medical facilities and proper diets are obesity; a lack of pre-conception and pre-natal care, usual with women who do not have health insurance; and the use of fertility drugs.
