According to a new study conducted by Harvard Medical School, over a period of past 22 years the number of fat babies has increased by 73.5%.



Factors leading to the current situation:

1. More babies large for the gestational age at the time of birth

2. Moms are overweight during pregnancy

3. Moms develop gestational diabetes while pregnant





Consequences:

1. There are chances that infants who are chubby initially are vulnerable to gain weight in later childhood and adulthood leading to other grave consequences related to obesity.

2. Some behavioral changes might also be seen in shape of a never-ending feeling of hunger.



What is to be done:

1. Start the efforts at the earliest

2. Parents must know as to how much of food their baby needs

3. Parents should talk to the doctors about the nutritional need of the baby
