If your otherwise healthy toddler is falling sick and is sneezing and coughing frequently ever since you put her in the day care, it’s time to check if your little one is bringing these infections from her daycare center.

Kids get sick all the time, whether they are in daycare or not. They play, share and eat together when they are in daycare centers. They are not only sharing their toys, but also germs, virus and infections. Children under 5 are especially susceptible to disease because their immune systems have not built up the necessary defenses to fight infection.

Kids have the tendency to put anything they lay they hands on, in their mouth and don’t care if that toy was in another child’s mouth an hour ago. Not only that they are contaminating other things and surfaces when they touch them with their salivated hands. So, in all this little act is a chain reaction for every kid to be exposed to infections.

Take care of these 5 simple steps and stop the germs from coming home.

1)Small play group: Find a day care center that has small groups. this way you ensure that your baby is given all the attention and also a small group of kids means less exposure to infections. Also find how the day care maintains the hygiene.

2) Immunization: Children need immunizations (shots) to protect them from dangerous childhood diseases. By immunizing on time (by age 2), you can protect your child from being infected and prevent the infection of others at school or at daycare centers.

3)Toilet training: Toilet train your kid and teach him to use the potty, to wash hands with soap and water before and after using the toilet.

4)Take off when sick: Don’t send you child to the day care when your child is sick; this way your child not only recovers from adequate rest, but is also not spreading the infection to other kids.

5)Hand wash: This is the first thing your toddler must be doing as soon as she’s home. Wash her hands with warm water and soap and half your work is done. Teach her to wash her hands before and after eating, after touching the pets and whenever they are soiled.
