A nationwide survey conducted on kids in Britain brought some real alarming results. It revealed that around 35,000 children in British below the age of 16 use heroin. The research gained momentum after an 11-year old- girl collapsed in her school at Glasgow due to the effects of the drug she smoked.
The heroin is being regarded as a ticking “time bomb” that can lead to a disastrous explosion if not taken care of immediately.
Experts opine that children can face grave consequences in the long run if the drug abuse continues to exist.
“Heroin affects the brain, hormonal and sexual development which means children won’t develop properly and girls might not be able to have children when they are older,” said Dr. Skett, an addiction expert from Glasgow University.
A reason that goes behind this addition is the fact that most of the parents themselves are addicted to heroine, which makes it quite normal for kids to get addicted. So I think parents are required to come to terms with reality and stop playing with their kid’s fate. The school authorities should also make it a point to make these young kids aware of the way they are taking up. Guide them towards good and bad…as school is the place where they spend most of their time after their homes.
